#23 is
After All These Years by Susan Isaacs. I didn't like it as well as I liked
Compromising Positions, but it was still a good mystery. A little fantasy...really, she's on the lam and has not one, but two romantic encounters...but the thing that really jaded me was that she had a fling with a former student who was her son's age. {I guess things in 1993 were a little less 'sexual predator' than they are now} The characters were pretty stereotypical of the rich and well-to-do. To be honest I was rushed to finish it because I got the dreaded email that my digital library loan was about to end. I may try another Susan Isaacs...we'll see.
Susan does have a great vocabulary tho:
p 130:
pejorative
expressing contempt or disapproval
p172:
skulduggery
underhanded or unscrupulous behavior; trickery
quote:
p379: But had God been in a breezier mood when he chiseled Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery than when he forbade murder? {Oh, how that puts sin in perspective!}
