Genius!

THIS IS GENIUS!
We were at Bier Markt in Ohio City on Wednesday evening to support a fund-raiser my friend, Kirsten, and her team were having to raise money to do the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk.
I go into the restroom and see this on the wall. So AMAZING I have to take a picture.

Why don't more places do this? Not only is is wise for a bar, but stadiums and schools could benefit from this as well.

There is nothing worse than getting into a stall and finding the roll empty. Didn't Seinfeld do a whole episode on the very subject... "Can you spare a square?"

Somebody sure was thinking here...

Shattered

Ever have one of those moments when your whole view of yourself is just shattered into a million pieces? Here I am, 41 years old, probably in the best shape of my life. Feeling pretty good about how I look and how I feel...

We're out with younger friends at the Firehouse winery enjoying the food and company and music and Chris singing to Mike...Trisha is VERY pregnant. (In fact she gave birth not 24 hours later) I'm touching her belly because I know she's not much longer to be with child and it's just creepy to go around touching unpregnant bellies. While we were sitting there she had a contraction. Chris was so adorable ~ which is not the side everyone gets to see ~ C: "Are you in pain?" T: "Yes" C: "YES!!!"
Of course this baby is the topic of all conversation and the group of older women sitting next to us at the picnic tables start to join in. (They were doing the bar crawl and I think the Firehouse is the last stop...) The one woman wants to know the name, but Trisha and Chris aren't telling. This woman suggests her son's name, Bronson, which I think is pretty telling. The conversation continues on...

They get up to leave and she's wishing Trisha luck when she turns to me and asks, "Are you the grandma?"

Shattered, that's all there is to say.

First Summer Sunday

It's the first Sunday of Summer ~ and I've gone for a 3 mile run, grocery shopped, and weeded a few flower beds. We're headed to Cassidy's for Sunday dinner...
I guess it's not REALLY the first Sunday of Summer as tomorrow I have to go to work and close up my classroom. But it's not a teaching day, so I can do as I please. I find I like to stay and organize and plan in my head for August. I'm also going to clean out my desk...a chore I never have time for during the school year. I love an organized desk and I love school supplies.
I say all of this...yet I know I'll be itching to leave the building as soon as I cover my shelves. What is it about the freedom of summer that makes us hurry though the jobs we should be doing...so we can go and do NOTHING? Nothing is rather appealing. Nothing means catching up on magazines and reading through all the stupidity that is Facebook and watching all the DVR'ed shows that no one but me wants to watch.
My summer plans:
  • Cedar Point ~ my children have never been there
  • Hiking at the metroparks
  • READING in my hammock
  • P90X
  • running the 5K in the Pirate triathlon
  • running
  • Gardening
  • Keeping my house clean
  • getting organized and planning for make-my-own Christmas presents
  • Mansfield penitentiary...
  • Beading
  • Keeping up with my blog ~ goal of which are to hone my writing skills and remember my life...
