Run Log August 2014

What a month!  Cross Country started.  Patrick moved back to Cincinnati.  School started.  Crazy busy started.  I just finished the task of getting the Tax Exempt status forms filled out for our union {thanks, former treasurer who never did it} and I'm looking at an IEP that MUST be written this week {preferably this weekend, but that hasn't happened yet}  Started a 30 day challenge on August 4... which makes today day 28; yesterday I did 90 squats, 30 push-ups and 90 leg lifts.  I have to say, I see a difference in my arms and my abs ~ a physical difference, but my butt just hurts.  I don't know if those squats are making my running better, but I know they hurt.  The challenge now is to keep going.  I'm pondering the extent of my keep going.  Do I stick with the 100 that I'll be at day 30, do I increase from there, or do I decrease & do them daily?  I just know I need a plan or I won't do anything.
I'd like to take a Yoga class...just need to make the time!
Running this month has been fun.  Cross Country is always good for that.  Our Blue Trail {thought we were heading to the Yellow Trail...but it was clearly blue ~ and I don't know where the Yellow Trail is anymore} Adventure was a HIT.  I think that may have been the best day of XC for most kids.  We FINALLY start meets next Thursday & I can't wait.
Went to the U Wanna Come Back Invitational yesterday & watched many of my former MMS runners compete at MHS runners.  It was so exciting and fun.  And I did feel a little bit of pride {maybe a lot} at how well they are doing.

August Totals:
113.60 miles for the month
734.21 miles for the year
254.33 miles for my blue Brooks Glycerin 12 ~ not the most accurate # as I've not worn them to run at Stig ~ but I'm too lazy to keep track of when I wear them & when I don't ~ so this number is a little high.  Hopefully they make it through September & to my half in October.
Training for:  The Northern Ohio 1/2 marathon on October 12. ~ and as many Grand Prix races as I can fit in.

My WEIGHT:  Did weigh myself this morning.  I'm happy with the 136.6 that showed up.  I was putting on the pounds at the end of July & beginning of August as I ate my way through summer.  Back to eating salad at lunch & really working on eating healthy, unprocessed stuff.  I'm not 100% there & I never will be ~ but I'm eating better & I'm good with it.

Some interesting facts:
Longest run this month: 14 ~ once.  Tried to do 12 yesterday...but the HEAT...turned it into 9 & my legs are TIRED!
Favorite place to run this month: Camp Stig
# of books I read this month: Two
Monthly mileage record: 155.46 ~ August 2013!  WOW

#20 Where'd You Go, Bernadette

Interesting book, #20 Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple.  A wacky, anti-social, loving, talented mother goes missing...in a wacky & humorous way.  Bee, the overly talented and wonderful teen aged daughter makes it her mission to find her.  It's over-the-top and real all at the same time.  Who really goes on a cruise to Antarctica?  And who kayaks with the icebergs?  And who has a crumbling house being destroyed by blackberries? Glad I read it :)

Quotes:
p318 ~ I had to go.  If for no other reason than to be able to put my hand on the South Pole marker and declare that the world literally revolved around me.

fl: The first annoying thing is when I ask Dad what he thinks happened to Mom, he always says, "What's most important is for you to understand it'snot your fault."  ll: I'll return and work on my plans for the new South Pole Station, you'll graduate Galer Street and go to Lakeside, Dad will continue making the world a better place at Microsoft, and we'll move into a normal house, dare I say, a Craftsman?

#19 The Sixth Man

The last book of summer (I don't see myself finishing my new one by Friday)  #19 The Sixth Man by David Baldacci.  Love the King & Maxwell series & I really like his writing.  I may have to try another series...or a stand alone book at some point.
This one is an interesting story of the mess that in US intelligence.  It makes me wonder how much of this is fiction and how much is pretty close to the truth.  Power is powerful...and the thought of more power is mighty motivation.

fl: "Make it stop!" ll: "I'm here, Michelle.  I'm right here."  He had his miracle.

Run log~July {#littlelate}

Vacation Time with my Girls in Michigan prohibited me from posting at the end of July...So this is a little late.  However, I still ran on vacation & that was pretty cool to run along the shores of Lake Michigan instead of Lake Erie.
July was a good month of running.  I ran in three different states at many elevations :)  I only ran in one race {and I don't really want to record that one, but I will}  "That one" was the Lake Metroparks Lighthouse Triathlon.  Trisha swam and biked & I was her runner.  It was much fun...and we had the best team name ever, * Tri Like a Girl *  My watch said I ran the 3.26 5k in 25:52, not a record by far, but under a 8 minute mile. {It was hard to run full out as I was passing everyone because I was fresh & they had just swam & biked}  However the timer had my 3.1 miles at 27:something...over a 9 minute mile.  Not a true story & it really hurts me to have that time with my name.  I'm whining about something that doesn't really matter, I know...but still.
Loved running trails in Colorado.  Loved running the roads in Michigan.  Loved that my IT band has 'fixed' itself...good month.

July Totals:
107.02 miles for the month
620.61 miles for the year
140.73 miles for my new Brooks Glycerin 12 ~ still seem new :)
Did a 30 Day Push up Challenge ~ Up to day 28...
Training for:  Maybe the Mantua 9 mile potato stomp {that just sounds funny}  5k's coming in September. & The Northern Ohio 1/2 marathon on October 12.
